"The outlook for economic activity has clearly improved since the last meeting."<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Market Takes A Hit</h2>The overall cryptocurrency market slipped 1.1% in the last 24 hours, dropping $3 trillion. Bitcoin, Ethereum Drop While Gold Extends Record Run Following Fed Decision

Gold futures for February deliveries surged more than 4.3% to $5,303 an ounce.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rate Unchanged</h2>The Fed <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/federal-reserve-hold-rates-in-first-policy-meeting-of-2026-despite-pressure-from-trump/cmyggYyR40V">announced</a> that it will hold key interest rates at 3.50% - 3.75%, in line with market expectations.“Available indicators suggest that economic activity has been expanding at a solid pace. Job gains have remained low, and the unemployment rate has shown some signs of stabilization. With central-bank buying easing and private and institutional inflows taking the lead, he sees prices potentially rising toward $6,000 an ounce before entering a period of consolidation.“For a non-yielding asset such as gold, continued inflows are required to justify ever-higher prices. Momentum could still carry prices towards $6,000 if macro or political risks intensify, but beyond that level, the risk of consolidation rises, rather than an imminent major correction,” Hansen said in a blog post on Wednesday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">FOMC Meet</h2>The Fed’s policy-setting committee convened on January 27 and 28 for its first meeting of 2026, following three quarter-point rate cuts late last year.
