Most of the liquidations originated from short bets, where traders wagered that the price of cryptocurrencies would fall, totaling around $400 million. Long liquidations were around $223 million. Ethereum (ETH) experienced the largest liquidations of $159 million, followed by Bitcoin at $157 million.Bitcoin’s<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X"> price</a> was trading at around $116,300 at the time of writing, up 3.1% in the last 24 hours. However, retail sentiment around the company remained in ‘bearish’ territory.&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/lookonchain/status/1972833422327619973">Data</a> from Lookonchain sparked speculation late Monday that a new wallet likely belonging to Bitmine received more than 25,000 ETH tokens from FalconX. Bitcoin’s (BTC) rally stalled in early trade on Tuesday, slipping to about $112,000 after briefly topping $114,800 in the prior session, as traders braced for another round of volatility ahead of a potential U.S. government shutdown.The government is set to&nbsp;shut down at 12:01 a.m. ET Wednesday unless lawmakers reach a deal. A shutdown would freeze congressional work, including Senate consideration of the digital asset market structure bill, also called the CLARITY Act, and force the&nbsp;U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to operate with skeleton staff. Vice President JD Vance&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-democrats-trump-set-face-off-budget-battle-that-could-trigger-govt-shutdowns-2025-09-29/">said</a> Monday, “I think we’re headed to a shutdown,” after negotiations ended without agreement.While&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X">Bitcoin’s price</a> edged 0.5% higher in the last 24 hours, it’s still trading 9% off its record high of more than $124,000 seen in August. Bitcoin Pulls Back To $112K Ahead Of Potential US Government Shutdown

Crypto liquidations topped $1 billion on Friday for the second time this week as Bitcoin (BTC) slid below $109,000.According to Coinglass&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.coinglass.com/LiquidationData">data</a>, 24-hour liquidations later eased to $970 million, led by Ethereum (ETH) at $312 million and Bitcoin at $244 million, after briefly spiking as high as $1.5 billion earlier in the day.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Deribit data&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/DeribitOfficial/status/1971158176310382791">indicates</a> more than $22 billion in crypto options are set to expire on Friday, with most of the open interest concentrated on calls. According to the exchange, this is “one of the largest” quarter-end expiries and the largest expiry of the third quarter (Q3) this year.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X">Bitcoin’s price</a> traded around $108,949, off 2.3% in the past 24 hours and 12.2% below its August record high above $124,000, according to CoinGecko data. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits turned ‘bearish’ from ‘neutral’ territory, even as message volume jumped to ‘high’ levels from ‘normal’ over the same period.However, September, which is historically a weak month for crypto, has so far seen Bitcoin lose just 1.5%.The drop in the major altcoins was led by Solana (SOL), Binance’s BNB token (BNB), and Dogecoin (DOGE).&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/SOL.x">Solana’s price</a> dipped 5.2% in the last 24 hours, while&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BNB.X">BNB’s price</a> was down 5% and Dogecoin slipped 4.2%.&nbsp;Ethereum (<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">ETH</a>) and XRP (XRP) were both down more than 3.5%, and Cardano (<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ADA.X">ADA</a>) slipped as much as 3.4% in the last 24 hours.&nbsp;The pullback comes ahead of the August release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, a key U.S. inflation gauge due later on Friday. Crypto Options Worth $22B To Expire Friday As Bitcoin Slips Below $109K – Solana Leads Altcoin Losses

The pullback comes ahead of the August release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, due later this Friday. 

GSR, a crypto market-making firm, filed with the SEC on Wednesday to launch the first ETF designed to track public companies that maintain cryptocurrency on their balance sheets.&nbsp;The proposed GSR Digital Asset Treasury Companies ETF would offer investors a way to access firms that have raised equity to purchase digital assets and keep them on their balance sheets.&nbsp;According to the SEC&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1771146/000199937125013876/gsr-485apos_092425.htm#gsr485aposa001">filing</a>, companies would be weighted based on market capitalization and crypto holdings, with periodic reviews to ensure the ETF reflects meaningful digital asset exposure. The fund would also allocate up to 15% to private investments in public equity (PIPEs), subject to ETF liquidity restrictions. The initiative marks GSR’s first foray into ETFs and is part of its newly formed US asset-management division, which recently opened a New York office.Similar ETFs already exist for Bitcoin-focused firms.
