Stocktwits Community Guidelines

Stocktwits exists to make it easy for investors and traders to find and share ideas. We love a good debate, a strong take, and a wide range of perspectives — that’s what makes the community valuable. To keep things worth showing up for, we ask everyone to follow a few basic rules.

Violating these guidelines can result in content removal or account suspension, based on the discretion of our moderation team.

Be Respectful

Great conversations happen when people feel safe to participate. Disagreeing with someone’s thesis is totally fine — going after the person individually, is not.. Please avoid:

  • Harassment — repeatedly targeting, insulting, or intimidating another member
  • Threats — any message that threatens harm to another person or implies that someone should be harmed, including statements that reference violence in a way meant to intimidate or suggest harm
  • Hate speech — language that demeans someone based on who they are
  • Vulgarity — excessive profanity in tagged streams, usernames, or profile content

If you no longer want to hear from someone on the platform, , block them or flag the content for our moderation team. You don’t have to engage.

Keep It Real (No Spam)

We want Stocktwits to be full of genuine ideas, not noise. Spam makes the stream harder to use for everyone. Some things we consider spam:

  • Posting the same message (or nearly identical ones) repeatedly
  • Tagging content to a ticker it has nothing to do with
  • Sending unsolicited promotional messages to other members
  • Using likes, follows, or replies primarily to self-promote rather than engage
  • Posting primarily to promote a product, service, Discord, Telegram, or other external community

If you promote a product or service, that content should make up no more than 10% of your posts, and it should always include something genuinely useful — not just a sales pitch. Your first 50 posts on Stocktwits are also restricted from promotional tagging while you get started.

Keep It Honest

The integrity of the stream matters. We ask that you:

  • Share your own genuine views, not coordinate or participate in efforts to artificially move a stock’s price (e.g., organized pumps or signal groups)
  • Disclose your position when relevant to the conversation
  • Do not make misleading claims about guaranteed profits or risk-free trades
  • Do not impersonate executives, public figures, or other members of the company in question
  • Do not spread false information or rumors about any stock or company. Speculation is a part of investing, but if you don’t have evidence to support something as fact, make sure to be transparent about the validity of your information, data, or posted material.
  • Do not use multiple accounts to amplify your own posts
  • Do not create new accounts to evade moderation or suspension

Users determined to be doing any or a combination of the above should anticipate having their accounts restricted or potentially suspended.

Keep It Appropriate

  • No nudity or explicit content of any kind, ever.
  • No doxxing — never share someone’s personal information without their consent
  • Politics belongs off the tape — if you want to discuss political topics, don’t tag them with a cashtag
  • No illegal activity or instructions for illegal activity

Automated Accounts

Bots and automated posting tools are welcome when they add real value — breaking news, data feeds, etc.. They’re not welcome when used to spam popular streams, dominate the feed with images and/or links, or promote content at scale.

FAQ

What counts as promotion? Linking to a paid service, a paywall, or a product advertisement is promotion. Alluding to a successful trade from a paid product also counts.

What counts as an original post for the 1:10 rule? Any post that shares news, analysis, a trade idea, a journal entry, or something genuinely entertaining or informative.

What counts as valuable or actionable content? Content that helps someone understand a situation better or make a more informed decision.
